1. A Better Chinatown Tomorrow and the Imperial Palace Restaurant invite you to the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival Celebration, Saturday, June 16. The festival begins at 4 p.m. with a dragon and lion dance and parade at the Chinatown Gate, Bush and Grant. At 5 p.m. a demonstration of zhongze (rice tamale) making takes place at the Imperial Palace Restaurant, 818 Washington St., followed by a special zhongze dinner (suggested donation $20 per person for dinner). 2. A reception honoring Landmarks Board members Ina Dearman and Alan Martinez, Saturday, June 23, 4:00 - 6:30 p.m., 824 Grove Street. Suggested donation $15 (tax deductible; checks payable to Heritage). Proceeds support nomination of the UC Berkeley Extension campus to the National Register. 3. June 23-29 the Presidio hosts "Pasados del Presidio", a series of public programs commemorating “San Francisco’s birthday”. Six events will take place , including a walk for kids around the Anza trail, an evening talk about Chief Marin, a day of fun for children, and an amazing dance performance.
