1. At its August 14 meeting the Board of Supervisors will hear an appeal (supported by Heritage) of the Planning Commission's denial of the landmark designation for the UC Extension Campus. Contact your district supervisors to urge overturning the Commission's decision and designation of the site as a San Francisco Landmark. To contact supervisors:

2. California Preservation Foundation Workshop: The Use and Application of the California Historical Building Code, Thursday, August 23, in San Jose. For more information: http://www.californiapreservation.org
3. The World Monuments Fund/Knoll Modernism Prize is awarded biennially to a designer or design firm in recognition of projects that preserve Modern landmarks and raise public awareness of their importance in the context of our architectural heritage. The producers of the Home and Garden TV series, "If Walls Could Talk," are looking for people in San Francisco and environs who have privately owned homes and through restoration/renovation have uncovered items hidden in walls, floors, attic, secret passageways, etc. that relate to an interesting aspect of the history of the house or significant owners.
