Greetings and Happy Holidays Heritage Members—2008 has been a busy and productive year for San Francisco Architectural Heritage, with many highlights:
· Board of Directors Retreat, strategic plan development, and continued work on the plan together with metrics to measure success
· New Board members: Nancy Goldenberg, Frederic Knapp, Daphne Kwok, Jon Knorpp, Zander Sivyer, and Christopher VerPlanck
· New staff in place, including Executive Director, Preservation Advocate Alex Bevk, Fiscal Manager Dana Talise, and Volunteer Coordinator Cate Conmy
· Formation, new website, listserv and event schedule for young preservationists network, Heritage YP
· Successful vote and advocacy for Proposition J: replacing the Landmarks Board with a new Historic Preservation Commission
· Launch of “Port City” book project, to be authored by Michael Corbett
· Revamped Heritage newsletter (at the printer, you’ll receive it in early January)
· Appeal (this week) of the demolition permit and permit for new construction at 1450 Franklin Street: Heritage’s appeal will be posted shortly at www.sfheritage.org
· Community engagement: work with neighborhood groups in Dogpatch, Tenderloin, Mission Dolores, Duboce Triangle, Alamo Square, Pacific Heights
· Collaboration with other stakeholders including AIA San Francisco, SPUR, Elderhostel, City Guides, Victorian Alliance, San Francisco Historical Society, California Historical Society, the Maybeck Foundation, and the National Trust’s Western Office
· Complete replacement of the roof at the Haas-Lilienthal House
· Contracted work begun on planning fire safety and ADA-accessibility improvements to the Haas-Lilienthal House
· Invitation from the National Trust to submit a full proposal for the Partners-in-the-Field Program in partnership with its Western Office

We’re grateful that many friends of Heritage have stepped up in response to the fall annual appeal letter.
