Greetings Heritage Members:
The re-write of Articles 10 and 11 is on a very fast track, to be approved by City Planning Commission (CPC) and Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) next week. Heritage and others outside City government are represented on the Working Group that is reviewing the draft Articles 10 and 11 as written by former Supervisor Peskin. The Articles include the powers and duties of the new HPC, role of Planning Dept staff, designation of landmarks and districts, issuance of certificates of appropriateness and administrative permits, survey work, enforcement and preservation incentives. The group is also reviewing a number of changes and edits as proposed by City Planning Dept. staff.

Tomorrow’s joint CPC/HPC meeting is an opportunity for public information and comment. You are welcome to attend and to express your views during this important process. FYI, a small Heritage working group will be meeting later today and in communication with former Supervisor Peskin to review the draft Articles and proposed city planning department amendments.

The HPC will vote on Articles 10 & 11 rewrite on April 8th, the CPC on April 9 -- in conformance with the 90-day deadline to refer the Articles back to the Board of Supervisors.

SPECIAL CALENDAR: 10:00am, Thursday, April 2, Room 400, City Hall
