SF Heritage Unveils Special Haight-Ashbury Piece by Stanley Mouse

We had a wonderful evening last week hosting a special reception for the unveiling of legendary poster artist Stanley Mouse’s new drawing of the Doolan-Larson Building. Widely known for his psychedelic poster art promoting San Francisco’s art and music scene in the 1960s and ’70s, Mouse created a special portrait of the SF Heritage-owned city landmark, located on the corner of Haight & Ashbury streets.

This summer, we have transformed one of the storefronts in the building into a “Mouse House” pop-up gallery, which showcases Mouse’s sixty-year career. Guests during our special event had the opportunity to view the exhibition, located at 1506 Haight Street, prior to the unveiling. We were honored to have SF Heritage board members attend the event alongside past and present SF Heritage artists-in-residence, neighborhood retailers and residents, and some of our key partners including the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, the SF Office of Small Business’ Legacy Business Program, the Haight Street Art Fair, Haight Street Voice, All Saints’ Episcopal Church, and more!

We are happy to announce that Mouse’s residency will extend into August 2022, and will coincide with our launch of Heritage in the Neighborhoods: Haight-Ashbury. Stay tuned for more soon!
