Free Annual Meeting includes presentation with vivid images of postwar San Francisco

Charles W. Cushman Collection: Indiana University Archives

Come one, come all to Heritage’s 2012 Annual Meeting at the Mendelsohn House (737 Folsom Street) in SoMa on Saturday, June 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. The meeting includes an update from Heritage staff and an overview of our recent community outreach work, including initiatives in SoMa. As a special treat, former Heritage staffer and author Eric Sandweiss will give a presentation on the work of amateur photographer Charles Cushman. Cushman’s recently-discovered collection includes images of the changing urban landscape of San Francisco in the postwar era. Sandweiss will sign copies of his new book The Day in Its Color: Charles Cushman’s Photographic Journey Through a Vanishing America (Oxford University Press, 2012). MC Canlas of the Bayanihan Community Center will give a tour of neighboring historic Filipino sites following the event.

Online registration is now closed. A limited number of walk-ins will receive admission.
