Join Heritage on Thursday, November 21 for the latest installment of our annual Lecture Series: “Electrify the Sky: A History of Neon in San Francisco.” An early booster of the lighting technology, the city’s boasts an exquisite neon landscape in a diverse range of styles.
Eric Lynxwiler of the Museum of Neon Art in Los Angeles will transport guests around San Francisco’s glowing skyline, retracing the development of neon and exploring the city’s unique collection of intact vintage signage. Following the lecture, Eric will lead a short walk of Chinatown’s historic signs, culminating at the Empress of China.
The lecture will take place at the Chinatown YMCA at 855 Sacramento Street. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event will begin at 6:00. Tickets are $8 for Heritage members/students and $12 for the general public.
