The San Francisco Museum and Historical Society hosts the Second Annual San Francisco History Expo on March 3 and 4 at the Old Mint. Celebrate the organizations that help keep San Francisco’s history alive at this two-day open house style event with dozens of the city’s leading community groups. The expo includes a photo exhibit of historic garages called “Elegant Pit Stops,” special presentations, and historic film screenings. Admission is free and there’s a lot to see!
The Balboa Theater’s 86th Birthday Bash

Celebrate the Balboa Theater’s 86th birthday this Sunday, March 4 at 7 p.m. Presented by Cinema SF, the San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation, and the San Francisco Silent Film Festival, the night includes a screening of Harold Lloyd’s silent classic Safety Last(1923) with a 35mm print directly from the Lloyd family. Everyone will receive birthday prizes and enjoy a special birthday cake created by The Cake Lady, Diane Boate, served with liquid libations.
Audience members are encouraged to dress in their best jazz-age clothing to recreate a night at the movies in 1926. General admission is $10 and seniors and children 11 and under are $7.50.
