Haas-Lilienthal House Sustainability Management Plan

The Haas-Lilienthal has the green light to go green according to a recent study conducted by Barbara A. Campagna Architecture + Planning PLLC. The Haas-Lilienthal House Sustainability Management Plan is the result of an eco-charrette held in August 2011 to identify greening opportunities and to target the appropriate rating system and certification level.

The study aims to ensure the continued relevance of the house by demonstrating the compatibility of historic preservation and sustainable practices. The plan provides a road map for greening maintenance procedures and capital improvements that respect the historic integrity of the Haas-Lilienthal House.

The plan states, “While the board of Heritage has targeted LEED Gold, there is the potential that the projects could be ‘stretched’ to reach the goals of net zero.” This is exciting news and only the beginning of a long-term project to make the Haas-Lilienthal House a model for exemplary sustainability practices.
