Karalyn Monteil joined San Francisco Heritage in January 2022 as the President & CEO. Karalyn provides leadership and strategic vision for three interdependent operations of SF Heritage, which include: advocacy and programs to preserve and enhance San Francisco’s unique architectural and cultural identity; management and rentals of the Haas-Lilienthal Historic House Museum and event space in Pacific Heights; and management and development of the Doolan-Larson residence, storefronts, and event space at the corner of Haight & Ashbury. Her responsibilities include: fundraising, external relations, administration, board management, programs and advocacy.
Karalyn worked for 20 years for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), where she was responsible for World Heritage and museum programs at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, France before serving six years as an advisor for culture in the UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa. Prior to joining UNESCO, Karalyn worked for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France and for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, among other roles.
